Sauna & Cold Bath Experience

Welcome to Cwt Tân a Rhew Famau – a calm outdoor sauna and cold bath experience designed to help you slow down, reset, and reconnect with nature.

The Sauna

Our electric-heated sauna provides a consistent, comfortable heat, allowing you to relax deeply while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The steady temperature makes it ideal for both first-time sauna users and regular guests, offering a soothing space to unwind, ease muscle tension, and clear the mind.

We politely ask that you shut the door to the sauna as you enter and exit. It will keep the heat in and improve everyone’s experience.
Do not bring any electrical items, including phones, into the sauna area and plunge pools.

The Cold Bath & Shower

After warming up, step into the cold bath for a refreshing contrast. Cold water immersion can help improve circulation, support recovery, and leave you feeling invigorated and refreshed.

The Ritual

Move gently between heat and cold, taking time to rest between each round. There’s no pressure or set routine – simply listen to your body and enjoy the experience at your own pace.

Sauna Bathing with Children

Cwt Tân a Rhew Famau

We are delighted to welcome children to Cwt Tân a Rhew Famau. As a family-run site, we believe sauna bathing can be a positive and enjoyable experience for all ages when done safely and responsibly.

Please read the guidance below carefully before booking. By bringing children to the sauna, you agree to follow all rules and recommendations outlined on this page. No children under 5 years of age.

Supervision & Responsibility

  • Children aged 5 years and above welcome but must never be left unattended.
  • A responsible adult must supervise at all times, both inside and outside the sauna.
  • Adults must closely observe how a child’s body responds to heat and be alert to signs of discomfort, including dizziness, headaches, nausea, or overheating.
  • The sauna heater is extremely hot and can cause severe burns if touched or fallen against.
  • As a general rule, the younger the child, the closer the supervision required.

Is Sauna Bathing Safe for Children?

Yes, sauna bathing is safe for healthy children when used appropriately. However, it’s important to understand that:

  • Children regulate heat less efficiently than adults.
  • Younger children sweat less and may heat up more quickly.
  • Children under 5 may experience rapid increases in heart rate.
  • Changes in temperature during cooling can sometimes cause dizziness or unsteadiness.

These effects are not dangerous in healthy children, but they do mean constant supervision is essential. Younger children may also struggle to communicate discomfort, so adults must be vigilant at all times.

Most children find sauna bathing a relaxing and enjoyable experience when sessions are kept short and gentle.

Waiver & Right to Refuse Use

You will tick the box before booking as a waiver that you have read and understood this guidance.

You accept full responsibility for the care and supervision of your child.

Staff reserve the right to end a session early if a child’s health or safety (or that of others) is compromised.

No refund will be offered if a session is ended for health and safety reasons.

Booking Rules

  • Children may attend private sessions only.
  • 1:1 adult-to-child ratio for all children under 16
  • Only one child aged 5 per booking.
  • No children under 5 years of age to use the facilities.

Visit Rules

  • For insurance reasons, children are not permitted to use cold-water showers.
  • Cooling water will be provided for splashing the face and body.
  • Children must be accompanied at all times on site.
  • The site is rural and car parking areas may be busy at times.
  • Children must not run inside the sauna or changing areas.
  • Children are not permitted to add water to the heater due to the risk of scalding steam.
  • If any signs of discomfort are observed, the child and supervising adult must leave the sauna immediately.
  • Please do not bring children with a fever, infection, or illness.

Recommendations for a Safe & Enjoyable Visit.

  • Encourage children to cool down regularly by stepping outside and splashing water on the face and body.
  • Small children may sit in the cooling water bath provided.
  • Children should drink plenty of water or juice during the session.
  • First-time sessions should be limited to 2–5 minutes, with frequent breaks.
  • Time can be gradually increased over future visits.
  • Children should sit on lower benches, away from the heater.
  • Sauna hats are recommended to reduce the risk of overheating.

Sauna bathing with children can be a calm, bonding, and restorative experience when approached gently and safely. Thank you for helping us keep Cwt Tân a Rhew Famau a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
